The Return of Robert Thach

I have officially restarted my Tumblr blog after nearly of year of ignoring it. I do not consider myself a blogger. I actually do not like blogging all that much, but I do have a deep interest in sharing my thoughts, and my love for music. Welcome to the reincarnation of my blog. It will now be called The Music Reform. I will be sharing (when I have time) my favorite albums and singles that have shaped my life since childhood. I am going to refrain from sharing recent album and single releases. I will give myself one strict rule: I must have listened to the album or single for at least a year. Being an avid music collector, there are lots of good music out there, but rarely would an album bring back nostalgia and fond memories from my past.

I love it when I listened to a tune, and have flashbacks of memorable, sad, and exciting times. Times that cannot be recreated, nor will be forgotten.

Welcome to The Music Reform.

Music Collection Hysteria

For the people who know me well, I am an avid music collector. Have been since, I think, 1997 or 1998. The very first CD I bought was actually the first “Pure Moods” compilation. I still have it. More than a decade later, my collection has grown to 1,1216 compact discs, and growing! Am I addicted? I don’t think so. I just want to show my support for the format as much as possible like people who support vinyls. I don’t think I will stop collecting music. It’s fun to have a collection like old women who enjoys collecting antique tea sets. Kind of.

What music do I collect? All types in all genres. Though I tend to flow more toward pop and electronic music, so my music collection comprise mostly of those two genres. Have a wide selections of rock and alternative, as well. I collect both albums and singles. Do not have a lot of compilations or soundtracks. I do want to start collecting movie soundtracks, eventually.

Passport Application

Just got back from the local post office in downtown Vancouver, Washington. Went there to renew my passport. Well, technically I had to request for a new passport. My original passport was issued to me when I was 16 years old. According to the Department of State, a passport issued to someone who is 16 years old or younger will not be eligible to renew their passport. I’m like, “What?” So I had to fill out for a new passport which is more expensive than renewing it. But at least now my new passport, when arrive, will last ten (10) years, and not three (3) like my original one.

Cannot wait to travel overseas again. I am all ready planning a three-day trip to Canada this summer. Let’s see if this plan goes through. Also planning on visiting Asia and/or Europe next year.

By the way, I got lost trying to find the downtown post office. Downtown is not that big, but with recent constructions and one-way roads, it got confusing. I had to drive around to figure where I was. How my downtown Vancouver is growing. Keep it classy!

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

A huge fan of Swedish music, and currently addicted to the Swedish-duo, the Sound of Arrows! The duo has remixed some of today’s hottest music, including “Alejandro” from Lady GaGa, and a track from the Danish band, Alphabeat. The Sound of Arrows was part of the independent Swedish label, Labrador, but the duo recently signed a major contract in the UK with Geffen. I am hoping the duo will make their way over the pond to the United States. We need more fun electronic music!

Check out the Sound of Arrows’ “Into The Clouds (Fear Of Tigers Remix)” released in late 2009. And check out their music video for their latest single “Nova”.

Went and visited the coast on Friday, March 25th with some good friends from Washington State University. It was my first time visiting Cannon Beach. I had always wanted to go there. Heard so much good things about it. Plus was excited to see the famous Haystack Rock in person. It was huge! The downtown area was vibrant and unique. Will definitely go back to Cannon Beach again!
